Biography

Sawda Mohamed Muuse, a PhD student in Materials Science and Engineering at King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST). My research focuses on thermal management of asphalt and cement-based materials, with particular interest in radiative cooling and advanced material solutions for reducing heat accumulation. I hold a MSc in Civil Engineering with a specialization in Transportation Engineering from National Cheng Kung University, Taiwan. My previous research focused on asphalt binder aging and the performance-based optimization of bio-rejuvenators using rheological and performance characterization. My current work builds on my background in asphalt materials while exploring interdisciplinary approaches to sustainable thermal management.

Research Interests

Thermal management of asphalt and cement-based materials through radiative cooling and advanced material modification. Research focuses on understanding material-thermal interactions and developing cooling strategies to reduce heat accumulation while maintaining material performance. Applications include sustainable and climate-resilient pavement and infrastructure materials.
