Biography

Abdulaziz Dumyati is a PhD student in the Sustainable Photonics for Energy Research (SuPER) Lab at King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST), supervised by Prof. Qiaoqiang Gan. He holds an M.Sc. in Materials Science and Engineering from King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM). He worked for six years in Saudi Aramco where he developed analytical methods for petroleum and materials characterization and led an initiative on sustainable upcycling of low-value feed into high-performance construction materials. His doctoral research focuses on passive radiative cooling and photonic materials for sustainable energy conversion. His expertise spans materials science, analytical chemistry, and advanced materials characterization.

Research Interests

Dumyati research centers on passive radiative cooling: engineering spectrally selective materials that reflect sunlight and emit heat through the 8–13 µm atmospheric window. He combines scalable coating formulations, including cementitious and paint-based systems, with optical and thermal characterization to deliver electricity-free cooling. Target applications include building and infrastructure cooling, atmospheric water harvesting, cable cooling, and hybrid radiative–evaporative systems for hot climates.
